Why did you create the Finite Math Help Program?” is a question I get asked.
As a math teacher who lives in Bloomington, I have been told by many students that they need help in the M116, 117 and 118 Finite Math courses, but they haved a difficult time finding or affording it.
Over the years, I have explained concepts, and more importantly, showed how to apply the concepts to solve some of the problems assigned in Finite Math.“Wow! Now I finally get it!” is a typical response.
So I have created a set of videos to explain the Finite Math concepts and processes. Of course, no student has enough time to do all the problems. You only need to do enough of them to understand the concepts and processes to solve problems on the exam.
I believe that any IU student can succeed in Finite Math if she or he will work steadily about an hour per day. Math is like a sport. You must practice it to master it. With the proper “coaching” virtually anyone can master it enough to “pass,” and if you work hard enough even get a good grade.
